Chapter 01
What we do — and why it matters.
The Ramapo Safety Initiative is an independent, community-driven effort. We're pro-growth — our town needs housing, and we welcome new development. Our focus is making sure the infrastructure that supports it — turning lanes, crosswalks, intersections, sidewalks, signage, and signals — is planned proactively and built on time. We are not affiliated with any political party or government office.
Push for the basics
Turning lanes, crosswalks, proper intersections, sidewalks, signage, red lights, and stop signs — wherever residents know they're needed.
Grow together
We support new housing and development. We just want the roads, signals, and pedestrian infrastructure planned in alongside every project.
Work constructively
We partner with public officials, agencies, and community leaders on practical, achievable safety improvements — not confrontation.
Before, not after
Too many improvements only happen after tragedies or years of petitions. We want them scheduled proactively — with residents at the table.

The situation
The town is building. The infrastructure hasn't kept pace.
New housing is going up, and that's a good thing. But for years, turning lanes, crosswalks, sidewalks, signage, and traffic signals have been deferred — and when they do get built, it's usually only after intense pressure, petitions, or a tragedy that could have been prevented.
That pattern needs to change. Infrastructure should be part of growth — not an afterthought to it.
