Privacy Policy

The Ramapo Safety Initiative ("we," "us," or "the Initiative") is an independent, resident-led civic project. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through ramaposafetyinitiative.com (the "Site") and how we use it.

1. Information we collect

• Contact information you give us. When you email us, sign up as a volunteer, submit a safety report, or fill in a form on the Site, we receive the information you provide — typically your name, email, neighborhood, and the message itself.
• Petition & campaign submissions. If you sign a petition or send an organized email to public officials through the Site, we may store your name, address, and message so we can present a verified list to those officials.
• Basic technical data. Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure logs standard information such as IP address, browser type, referring page, and timestamps. This is used only for security, abuse prevention, and aggregate analytics.

2. How we use information

• To respond to your messages and coordinate volunteer efforts.
• To organize and deliver petitions, letters, and public comment to the Town of Ramapo, Rockland County, or other relevant public bodies.
• To improve the Site and keep it running securely.

3. What we do NOT do

• We do not sell your information.
• We do not share your information with political campaigns.
• We do not use your information for commercial advertising or third-party marketing.

4. When information becomes public

Petitions, public comments, and letters submitted to government officials are, by their nature, public advocacy. When you sign a petition or send a public comment through the Site, you should assume your name and neighborhood will be part of the public record delivered to officials. We will note this clearly on any form where it applies.

5. Data storage & security

Submissions are stored on secure managed cloud infrastructure with encryption in transit and at rest. We take reasonable measures to protect this data, but no online system can be guaranteed 100% secure.

6. Your choices

You may email Ramaposafetyinitiative@gmail.com at any time to request a copy of the information we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted (except where we are required to preserve it as part of a submitted public record).

7. Children

The Site is intended for adult residents. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Effective" date above will reflect the most recent change.
